Wondering what things to bring for your boudoir session?
On October 22, 2021 by Perfect BalanceGetting your list of things to bring to your boudoir session? You might be surprised with some of the suggestions we have for you. Take a look below and make sure you’ve got all your goodies packed and ready.
- Food. When you think of boudoir sessions and food, you typically think champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Well what if that just isn’t your style? Let your photographer know what you do and don’t like. They might be planning on having some snacks on hand, and if you have allergies or a food you just can’t stand, it is better for them to know ahead of time. Prefer donuts, sushi or gummy bears? Bring it, and let’s dig in!

- Jewelry. Are you doing your boudoir session as a present to your fiancé? Grab your wedding day jewelry and your engagement ring. Have a sentimental necklace or bracelet? Bring it along and show your us. We will be happy to include it.
Lingerie. This is the most obvious, but you would be surprised how many folks forget something. We have a client closet here at Perfect Balance Photo, and have plenty of great looks for you. Perhaps you saw our Diva Skirt and want to compliment it with a bodysuit of your own. Pop that bad boy in your bag and we will make it happen!

- Shoes and footwear. Are you rockin’ some super cute leg warmers? How about some classic red bottom shoes? Stockings or thigh highs? Don’t forget that your legs and feet have a MAJOR part in your boudoir session, so shoe them some love!
- Props. Did you sneak out with your man’s team jersey and helmet? How about your bridal veil, or a favorite perfume bottle? Musical instruments like guitars are a favorite too!

- Lipstick. Even though you had your hair and make up professionally done, that lip color won’t last all day. Bring a back up and varying shades for a mood change. If this is a couple’s session, or you happen to be one of our non-lipstick wearing clients, grab some chapstick. This will keep your lips from cracking.
- Eyes. Do you plan on wearing contacts? Don’t forget to grab your wetting drops. We keep the heat on during your session and that can make your eyes a bit dry. Best to keep some drops on hand.
Now here’s some of the extras that really make your session even better!
- Boudoir Mantra. Being nervous before your boudoir session is completely normal. I’ve found that one of the best ways to pump yourself up is to repeat an affirmative mantra or positive phrase! Maybe it’s “I’m sexy and I know it!” or “I am grateful for all that I am,” or “May I be kind to myself today and always.”
- Playlist. Music that makes you feel alive, and sexy is what we want to be playing during your session. Hop on Spotify and choose 20 to 30 of your favorite songs. Upbeat songs, sexy songs, song that make you feel glamourous. Share that playlist with us and we will put it on our speakers and go!
- Selfie-time. Well before your boudoir session, you want to set aside about an hour to try on your outfits. Pop yourself in front of a mirror and check out how great you look. Let us know what you love about your outfits when you put them on in studio, and we will capture that! Tell yourself how amazing you look in each piece and call out your favorite physical feature in each outfit.

- Write it Down. Take some time to write down the reasons why you decided to do a boudoir session. Maybe it’s to embrace your body or you want to give a milestone gift to your partner. Whatever the reason, this session is a celebration, and we’re going to have a blast!
Now that you know what to bring to your boudoir session, pack your bag! Head down to the studio and enjoy the day, it will be one you don’t forget anytime soon!
